A life in medicine with Samantha

       This week we interviewed Samantha a woman that works at St. Mary's Hospital. She went to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Samantha earned her Doctor of Pharmacy which is a graduate degree. But she had  to takes here are two types of specific classes in biology and medical science to join the school of pharmacy. There are two types of pharmacists retail and hospital. Before she worked in retail at Target. Her job is like a safety officer. The nurses and doctor call her. She picks the right and safe mediciene so the patients become healthy again. She takes orders from doctors and nurses. She tells the safe mixture of different types of medicines. She has to double check her work. She works as a team with other pharmacists. All medication in the hospital is her responsibility. Now that she works at the hospital she misses talking to her patients. She works the  evening shifts, because the hospital is open 24 hours a day. The first job for Samantha is the day is to check and make sure the medicine that the is correct. She need to remember to stay calm so  she doesn't  make mistakes. She's not only working at St. Marys, but in the evening she also gets orders from Efingham and Streeter. She was good at math and science. That is why she wanted to become a pharmacist.
